Praxis III Test Preparation & Study Guide

The TeXas Praxis exam is for candidates seeking a Teacher Certification in the State of Texas. The Praxis III series is a set of assessments and educational exams, along with various services that different states use for licensing their teachers.  ETS is responsible for developing the assessments in the Praxis III exam so that the decision to give licenses to teachers can be made by local agencies or states that possess the authority to license teachers.

The TeXes exam is administered by the Educational Testing Centre or ETS and is created by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)

Exam Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the exams the following are the requirements.

•  The candidate will need to take the PPR (Pedagogy & Professional Responsibilities) practice tests. This needs to be taken by everyone who are planning to appear for the TExES exam.

•  The Subject area requirements like (Math, English, PE, History, Theatre and Art) should be met so that the individual is eligible to take the TExES exam.

•  Candidates who have opted for the bilingual subjects like Spanish and French should have appeared the TOPT, with tests the candidates oral proficiency.

Exam Details

 

The Exam can be either computer based or written on paper. Most of the exams are based on paper.

•  The subjects covered in the exams are varied and they are usually bases on the education standards of TExES.

•  The exam is based on multiple choice questions, while some other exams follow a different format like the questions that have a constructed response.

•  The questions and the breakdown of the test are all dependent on which TExES the candidate is appearing for.

•  Along with questions, there are also pilot questions, so that the educators can see if they can use those questions the next time. They however do not form part of the score.

•  The TEA website gives detailed information depending on the type of TExES exam.
